Testimonials

Like Pete Sampras, Dan H. suffers from a lumbar herniated disc. The difference is Dan has two levels of herniation, and at one point he was unable to bend over and tie his shoes. On MRI disc protrusions are evident at the L4-5 and L5-S1 levels.

A collegiate level tennis player who has played the qualifying rounds of Pro tournaments, Dan began suffering low back pain in early 1999. Symptoms progressed and by Labor Day 2000 he had received treatment from three chiropractors and was consulting an orthopedic surgeon.

Surgery was discussed, an epidural scheduled, and he was referred to physical therapy. Six weeks of physical therapy emphasized manual treatments and lumbar stabilization with a lot of education.

Able to bypass surgery and an epidural, Dan has been back on the courts hot-dogging it (as seen above) for over a year now.

Still pleased with his results from physical therapy, Dan states "I again have an active, independent lifestyle thanks to the treatment and knowledge I gained about my back."

Laura's counter-punch approach to tennis is relentless. In or out of season, she can usually be found on court 4x/week. An avid singles player at 4.0 and A-3, she has the drive and the ability to put the next ball back in play, and keep it in play until her opponent's will weakens.

Repetitive hitting can put a lot of mileage on an elbow. The break-down finally occurred when a group of friends went to Hilton Head for a weekend tennis clinic to polish up their game before the start of the fall season.

The coach felt a stronger serve was the weapon that could best improve her competitive edge. Enthusiasm, modified technique, and repetition led to a demise in her game over the following 8 months due to pain and inability to maintain a grip when making contact with the ball. Her court time decreased and the onset of symptoms became quicker and more intense.

Physical therapy offered treatment and techniques to get back in the game. After five treatments her elbow improved 90%, and the swing is back. Laura very happily notes, "my results from physical therapy enable me to hit and play consecutive days with out symptoms."
